I did not see them go ashore.

16. We did not discharge any coal at Yap.

17. I received a letter from the German Authorities at Yap

giving me orders but not understanding it I sent it back again. The Super cargo-man of the "Rio Pasig" told me the orders.

18. My Orders were to proceed to Amboina of the Molucas

Islands to get further orders after leaving Yap we touched at

Pallans Islands where there was a wireless station but we did not

use it. Te land no coal there.

19.

We did not go to Amboine but arriving at Ceram took in

water and whilst there a Dutch man of war came up to us and inspect- ed our papers and told us that we must either unload coal at

Amboina or else go back to some Philippine Port. We landed no coal

at Ceram.

20. We accordingly left Ceram on the 12th September, 1914. 21. We then had three of our passengers on board one having

landed at Yap.

22. We were captured before we reached any other port on the

15th September, 1914.

23. I do not know why we were carrying this cargo of coal. 24. There were two colliers at Ceram with us, they flew the German flag. One collier left the day before we did and the other

left with us.

25. At Ceram the three passengers went on board to visit the collier but returned to the "Rio Pasig" before we left.

26. When we were captured our coal which he had left Manila with was on board and is now in the "Rio Pasig".

27. The three passengers were on board when the "Rio Pasig was captured.

28. We took Anfother passengers on board the "Rio Pasig" at any of the above ports we called at.

29. The three passengers referred to by me are the three mentioned in the passengers manifest document No.10 now shown to me and marked J.G.A.1 which document bears my signature.
